A calculator, not advice
Coastyear is a retirement planning calculator. We are not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, financial planner, or tax or legal professional, and nothing on this site is investment, tax or legal advice.
Everyone gets the same formulas. Your results depend only on the numbers you enter. We don't recommend securities, funds or how to split your money between them. The 90% stocks and 10% bonds used in the history check is an input you can change, not a recommendation.
Before acting on a plan, especially one involving taxes, health insurance or when to claim Social Security, consider talking to a qualified professional who can look at your whole situation.
About the projections
Projections are hypothetical. They are based on the assumptions you entered and on historical market data, do not reflect actual investment results, and are not guarantees of future results. Results may vary with each use and over time. See our methodology for assumptions and limitations. This is not investment, tax, or legal advice.
This wording follows the format FINRA requires of brokers' investment analysis tools: explain the method, its limits and key assumptions, and say that results are hypothetical. The methodology page covers all three.
Affiliate links
Coastyear is free and has no ads. To pay for it, some links to other financial products are affiliate links: if you sign up through one, we may earn a commission. Next to every affiliate link you'll see this note:
We earn a commission if you sign up through this link. It doesn't change your numbers.
- Empower: a link to Empower's free financial tools, shown next to the "Invested for retirement" field, and only to visitors in the US. Empower may contact you by phone or email if you sign up. [Empower's required conflict-of-interest disclosure: placeholder. The exact text from Empower's affiliate terms goes here before the link is turned on.]
- ProjectionLab: a link for people who need tax and Roth conversion planning, which Coastyear doesn't do.
A commission never changes your numbers, the order of anything on the page, or what the calculator says about your plan. Affiliate links are marked in the page code as sponsored.
Your data
Affiliate partners don't receive any of your plan numbers from us. The privacy policy explains what we collect and what we don't.
